A wheel distributor that had outgrown its back-office systems

DTD 2009 is an Anjou-based distributor specializing in alloy and steel wheels for automobiles and light trucks. Their catalog covers alloy wheels (their own DTD designs and OEM replicas), steel wheels, hubcaps, wheel covers, centers, and accessories like lug nuts, centering rings, and measuring tools. They serve a network of dealers, tire shops, and automotive retailers across Quebec and beyond.

The business had been running on Acomba for accounting and inventory management — a system common among small Quebec businesses but one that was never designed to support eCommerce or the kind of real-time inventory visibility that B2B buyers increasingly expected. DTD 2009 needed two things at once: a proper B2B eCommerce platform that could handle their complex product catalog, and a modern ERP that could actually talk to it.

Automotive wheel distribution has a catalog problem that most industries don't. Every wheel has to match a specific vehicle — defined by year, make, model, and sub-model. A single alloy wheel design might be available in multiple sizes, bolt patterns, offsets, and finishes. Buyers don't browse casually; they search by vehicle fitment first, then narrow by product type. If the website can't handle that lookup instantly and accurately, it's useless.

On top of the catalog complexity, the B2B side required dealer-specific pricing, account-based access, and order workflows that matched how the sales team had been operating — not a consumer checkout bolted onto a wholesale business.

And then there was the ERP problem. Acomba was a dead end. It couldn't integrate with a modern eCommerce platform, couldn't provide real-time inventory across their warehouse, and couldn't scale with the business. But switching ERPs while simultaneously launching a new eCommerce platform meant managing two transformations at once — each dependent on the other.

A B2B Magento storefront with a parallel ERP migration

We built a full Magento B2B eCommerce platform for DTD 2009 while simultaneously supporting the transition from Acomba to Cin7 as their new inventory and order management system.

Vehicle fitment search. The core of the buying experience. We built a year/make/model/sub-model lookup tool that lets dealers find compatible wheels in seconds. This is the feature that determines whether a B2B buyer uses the website or picks up the phone — if fitment search is fast and accurate, the site becomes the primary ordering channel.

Complex catalog architecture. Alloy wheels, steel wheels, OEM replicas, hubcaps, centers, lug nuts, centering rings — each with their own attribute sets (size, bolt pattern, offset, finish, load rating). Products organized by both category and vehicle compatibility, with technical documentation and application guides accessible directly from the catalog.

B2B account management. Dealer-specific pricing, account-based login, order history, and reordering capabilities. The storefront was built for the repeat buyer who knows exactly what they need and wants to get in, find fitment, and place an order without friction.

Acomba to Cin7 ERP migration. We supported DTD 2009 through the transition from Acomba to Cin7 — migrating product data, inventory records, customer accounts, and pricing structures while ensuring the new ERP integrated cleanly with the Magento storefront. This was not a phased rollout; both systems needed to be live and synchronized for launch.

Bilingual operation. Full French and English support across the entire platform — critical for a Quebec-based distributor with a dealer network that operates in both languages.

Unified Commerce + inventory on one stack

DTD 2009 is a textbook example of a distribution business that had outgrown its back-office systems. Acomba was fine when the business was smaller and orders came in by phone. But as dealer expectations shifted toward self-serve online ordering with real-time inventory visibility, the gap between what the business needed and what its systems could deliver became untenable. By running ERP migration and eCommerce launch in parallel, DTD 2009 launched with a clean, modern stack that could grow with the business.

"Human After All understands and adapts to our market needs, which isn't easy to do."
