NetSuite Shopify Integration for B2B Commerce
A NetSuite Shopify integration is the real-time connection between your Shopify Plus storefront and your NetSuite ERP — orders flowing into NetSuite for fulfillment and invoicing, while inventory, pricing, and customer records flow back to keep the storefront accurate. Human After All designs and ships these integrations for B2B manufacturers and distributors, via Patchworks iPaaS or custom SuiteScript.
Why do B2B merchants connect Shopify Plus to NetSuite?
Because NetSuite already runs the business — financials, inventory, fulfillment, customer records — and a storefront that doesn’t speak to it creates work instead of removing it. Without integration, every online order gets re-keyed into NetSuite, the website shows stock the warehouse already shipped, and the pricing a wholesale buyer sees online doesn’t match what their rep quoted from the ERP.
Connected properly, Shopify Plus becomes a self-serve channel your NetSuite operation can trust: orders arrive ready for fulfillment and invoicing, inventory and price levels stay accurate on the storefront, and your team stops babysitting spreadsheets. That’s the difference between launching a website and launching a digital channel — and it’s why we treat the NetSuite integration as a peer workstream to the storefront build, never an afterthought.
How does a NetSuite Shopify integration work?
Four core flows do most of the work. Orders travel from Shopify Plus into NetSuite for fulfillment and invoicing. Inventory levels travel back, mapped from NetSuite locations to Shopify locations. Pricing — including NetSuite price levels — feeds Shopify Plus catalogs and price lists. Customer records sync in both directions, so a company created in either system exists in both.
Around those flows sits the infrastructure that keeps an integration alive after launch: monitoring, error handling, and retry logic. Each flow gets an explicit source of truth, a sync frequency, and a failure path — decided in discovery, not discovered in production. This is the same architecture we apply across our platform and integration practice, whether the ERP is NetSuite, SAP, or a regional system no connector covers.
Should you use Patchworks or a custom SuiteScript build?
Both work, and we ship both. Patchworks — the iPaaS where we are an integration partner — ships a pre-built NetSuite connector, so standard flows deploy in weeks with managed monitoring, error handling, and retry logic included. It’s usually the right call for conventional order and inventory patterns, especially when internal IT capacity is limited.
Custom SuiteScript development wins when your NetSuite environment deviates from the standard patterns — bespoke field mapping, asynchronous queuing, unusual approval logic, or flows no connector covers. It costs more to build but carries no monthly platform fee. We recommend based on your transaction volume, data complexity, and internal capacity — not on what we would prefer to sell. See our technology partners for the full stack we work with.
What makes a B2B NetSuite integration different?
The B2B specifics. A DTC integration moves orders and stock; a B2B integration also has to carry customer-specific price levels, credit limits, payment terms, company hierarchies, multi-location inventory, and partial fulfillments. This is exactly where generic connector setups fall short — and where our operator background pays off, because we’ve run these workflows from the merchant side.
On Shopify Plus, those NetSuite concepts have native destinations: price levels become price lists, credit terms become payment terms, company hierarchies become company accounts. Mapping them correctly is the project. We scope these edge cases in discovery, not after go-live — the same discipline you’ll see in our case studies, and the reason our integrations keep working long after launch.

Frequently asked questions
Can you integrate Shopify Plus with NetSuite?
Yes — NetSuite is one of the ERP integrations we ship most often. We connect Shopify Plus and NetSuite with real-time synchronization of orders, inventory, pricing, and customer data, using either the Patchworks iPaaS connector or custom SuiteScript development, depending on the complexity of your NetSuite environment. The standard pattern: orders flow from Shopify Plus into NetSuite for fulfillment and invoicing, while inventory levels, price levels, and customer records flow back to keep the storefront accurate. Where projects succeed or fail is in the B2B specifics — customer-specific pricing, credit limits, payment terms, multi-location inventory, and partial fulfillments — so we scope those edge cases in discovery rather than discovering them after go-live. Every integration we deliver includes monitoring, error handling, and retry logic, because a NetSuite connection that fails silently is worse than no connection at all.
How long does a NetSuite Shopify integration take?
A Patchworks-based NetSuite integration covering standard flows — orders, inventory, pricing, customers — typically takes 6 to 10 weeks. Custom SuiteScript builds for complex environments run 12 to 20 weeks, depending on field-mapping depth, queuing requirements, and how many systems participate. The timeline drivers we scope up front: data quality inside NetSuite, the number of price levels and customer segments, order routing and fulfillment rules, and your internal team’s availability for testing windows. We plan the integration as a peer workstream to the storefront build, never a task bolted on before launch — disconnected timelines are how B2B projects end up with beautiful storefronts nobody uses internally. With 40+ ERP integrations shipped across SAP, NetSuite, Dynamics, Tecsys, Cin7, and ServiceCentre, we have standard patterns for most NetSuite scenarios, which keeps these estimates honest. Integration testing with real orders is part of every plan.
What data syncs between Shopify and NetSuite?
Four core flows sync in a typical build: orders from Shopify Plus into NetSuite; inventory levels from NetSuite to the storefront; pricing — including B2B price levels — from NetSuite to Shopify catalogs and price lists; and customer records in both directions. Beyond the core, B2B operations usually add fulfillment and tracking updates flowing back to Shopify, credit limits and payment terms enforced at checkout, and multi-location inventory mapped to Shopify locations. Product data can also travel through the integration, though for complex catalogs we usually govern it in Akeneo PIM and publish to both systems from there. Each flow gets an owner, a frequency — real-time, near-real-time, or scheduled — and an error-handling path. Deciding which system is the source of truth for each data type is the most important architectural decision in the project, and we make it explicit in discovery.
Do I need Shopify Plus for a NetSuite B2B integration?
For B2B, yes — Shopify Plus is the practical requirement. Native B2B features — company accounts, price lists, payment terms, quantity rules, and B2B checkout — are exclusive to Plus, and they are exactly what the NetSuite integration feeds: NetSuite price levels map to Plus price lists, credit terms map to payment terms, and company hierarchies map to company accounts. A standard Shopify plan can technically receive orders and push inventory, but without the B2B primitives the integration has nowhere to put customer-specific pricing or terms, and you end up rebuilding them with apps. If you sell only DTC, standard Shopify with a NetSuite connector can work. If wholesale buyers log in expecting their negotiated pricing, start on Plus. Our Shopify Plus practice and our integration practice are the same team, so the platform decision and the integration architecture get scoped together, not sequentially.
How much does a NetSuite Shopify integration cost?
It depends on the path. An iPaaS build carries a Patchworks subscription plus a configuration engagement — lower build cost, an ongoing platform fee, and monitoring included. A custom SuiteScript integration costs more to build but carries no monthly platform fee, which can win over a multi-year horizon. The variables that move the estimate: how many data flows you need, how far your pricing model deviates from standard NetSuite price levels, order volume and peak load, and how much custom business logic lives between the two systems. We scope both options in discovery and recommend based on your flows and internal IT capacity, not on what we would prefer to sell — as a Patchworks Partner that also builds custom middleware, we have no stake in one answer. You leave discovery with a fixed scope and a number, not an hourly guess.
